Late-night discussion at the 1st PhD seminar in 2001

The PhD Seminar on Chromatographic Separation Science is an international forum for activities in all aspects of fundamental research and practical applications of chromatographic separation science in life and natural sciences, including corresponding areas of chemistry, biology, polymers and biotechnology.

In year 2001, this event was founded by Prof. Henner Schmidt-Traub1, Prof. Klaus Unger2, and Dr. Reinhard Ditz3 under the name “PhD Seminar Preparative Chromatography”. Until today, Prof. Massimo Morbidelli4 and Prof. Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern5 showed great dedication to the organization of this event. Later, it was renamed “PhD Seminar on Chromatographic Separation Science”, under the acronym SoCSS. The seminar is held at varying locations within Europe, mostly Germany.
